Belfast Fleadh Fringe :: Belfast Central Library

August 4 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Step into a world of myth, magic and wonder with musicians Anne Harper and Bróna McVittie as they regale you with tales and serenades from Ireland and beyond. McVittie draws upon her recently published folklore anthology featuring legends from the 13th century to the present day. Anne Harper’s work explores the forgotten and overlooked, blending historical research with traditional storytelling and musical performance. You are invited to cross the threshold between the everyday and the otherworldly. This is an interactive family-friendly event featuring storytelling and acoustic performances on harps, guitar and other instruments.

Anne Harper is a musician and storyteller who blends music, song, and the spoken word. Drawing on archaeology, musicology, and mythology, Anne’s work explores the forgotten and overlooked, creating performances full of connection and inspiration. “There is no fixed endpoint in Anne Harper’s work. It moves between disciplines. Between places. Between past and present. Between the personal and the collective. At its core is a simple idea – that stories matter. That places hold meaning. That connections exist, even when they are not immediately visible” Aidan McGrath, Go Leor Magazine
