Brona founded The Balance as an outlet for her songs when she first began writing in the mid 1990s. With bassist and fellow biologist (Joe Mossman) she took to the stages of the pubs and clubs of Oxford town. Their first gig was at the Bullingdon Arms. After graduating the pair moved to London and played the circuit for a few years before moving on to other projects. Triptych was recorded and produced with the help of Alastair Dant.
